BOUIN’S SOLUTION
Aqueous solution of formaldehyde, trinitrophenol, and acetic acid for tissue fixation
Synonym: Bouin’s fixative

Excellent for preserving soft and sensitive tissue structures, such as lymph nodes, prostate
biopsies, kidneys and endocrine glands. Owing to intensive yellow color, it enables easier
visualization of small tissue structures, and it is extremely important when used as mordant in
various trichromatic methods. Especially useful fixative for observing chromosomes in tissues
during mitosis or meiosis.
